What is Creek Watch?

Testing kits provided by the Creek Watch Tributary Stormwater Monitoring program of the Riverwatch Institute of Alberta allow our volunteer team to collect data to monitor the health of Nose Creek.

Our citizen scientists use various testing techniques to monitor parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, ammonia nitrogen, temperature, turbidity and chloride. Additionally, they use a fine mesh net to collect samples of various invertebrates, such as insects and crustaceans, that inhabit the creek.

Testing is done almost every week between April and October, which gives us great insight into how our creek changes through all the seasons and allows us to compare year-to-year.
